My Jazz Fest Dream...dead

This is the Jazz Funeral for the death of the dream of me going to Jazz Fest this year. It is my favorite time of year in New Orleans and the best experience for your money. If you are in desperate need of a good time, then you need to get to New Orleans for Jazz Fest. It is the all encompassing New Orleans experience from music, food, drinks, art, culture and of course soul.

Let's Go Back and Remember....

WE ATE, and ATE, and ATE

We hung out with the best people and followed their lead

We Danced and Sang (some of us not so well)

And of course we shared many laughs and smiles

RIP for this year, but I will see you soon.

The Shack...

I have heard so many wonderful reviews of this book, The Shack, that I had to get a copy. I am just delving into it now, but I will post my opinions when I am through. I am very excited. If anyone has read it, let me know your thoughts.

Mary Janes Farm...the name and the ideas roped me in

On my latest trip to the market I came upon this great new magazine called Mary Janes Farm, The American Organic Original. I was really impressed by the tone of this magazine, which has a very natural feminist perspective. I really liked the recipes; this edition had some great ones for rhubarb (a coffee cake I can't wait to try). There are ideas and inspiration in fields from cooking, gardening, sewing, crafting, and other passions and hobbies of women who are farm girls at heart.

Beads, Beads, and more Beads

I have not been blogging lately because I accidentally, perhaps had a few drinks, knocked my computer onto the floor and yes, gasp... broke it. So now my computer time is limited but my connection to real life has improved and I have rediscovered my old hobby of jewelry making. I am on a quest to learn about all beads from around the world and have started with a few books and a great series of DVD's called World on a String. I will update you later on more, but this is a great documentary that spans five sections and gives more detail into the world of the bead than I could have ever imagined. Did you know that beads were currency before money. If only we could go back to that.
